The room is warm, the Jamón Ibérico is carved by hand, and the Paella Marinera takes fifteen minutes because it is made fresh every time. If you are coming with a group, we have spaces for all sizes – from a table of six to full venue hire.
We are at 5–6 Down Street, Mayfair – a five-minute walk from Hyde Park Corner Station (Piccadilly line) and Green Park Station (Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines). Open Tuesday to Saturday, 12pm to 10.45pm. Open Mondays from 16 November through 23 December.

So, it should come as no surprise that in this busy and bustling city they do Christmas properly. Every year, the city transforms into a winter wonderland with shops and main streets blazing and elaborate displays of lights everywhere.
A TASTE OF MADRID IN MAYFAIR
The main streets blaze with light, the Plaza Mayor fills with its famous Christmas market, and turrón appears in every shop window alongside marzipan, polvorones and Cava. On Christmas Eve, families sit down late and eat together for hours.
Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park
London does its own version – Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, the lights on Regent Street, the markets along the South Bank. El Pirata sits quietly between the two worlds. A Spanish kitchen on a Mayfair back street, open since 1994, doing things the way they have always been done.
Start with Jamón Ibérico 100% Bellota, hand-carved with care, share the Gambas al Pil-Pil and the Croquetas de Jamón. Order the Paella Valenciana for the table and give it the time it needs. Finish with Churros y Torrones – the Spanish way to end a festive meal – and a glass of something from our Spanish wine list. That is Christmas on Down Street.
