THE BEST TAPAS IN LONDON
THE EL PIRATA OF MAYFAIR STORY

Imagine the perfect tapas bar. A buzzy, back-street restaurant on a quiet Mayfair street, full of animated guests and warm-spirited staff who have worked here for years. The food is made fresh each day – hand-carved Jamón Ibérico, homemade croquetas, paella built from scratch – and the Spanish wine list has been curated over three decades.

Welcome to El Pirata of Mayfair – one of London’s most celebrated Spanish tapas restaurants, proudly independent for over 32 years. We are not a chain, and we have never wanted to be. We are a Mayfair institution, built on the loyalty of our regulars, the quality of our food, and a genuine warmth of welcome that has remained unchanged since 1994. • This casual, crowded Spanish gem is a winner thanks to terrific tapas that won’t break the bank..
great sangria and smiling waiters who work as a seamless team; and if it would be unremarkable in Andalusia, it hits the spot as far as Londoners are concerned.

A TRADITIONAL SPANISH TAPAS BAR AND RESTAURANT IN THE HEART OF THE WEST END

Welcome to El Pirata of Mayfair – one of London’s most celebrated Spanish tapas restaurants, proudly independent for over 32 years. We are not a chain, and we have never wanted to be. We are a Mayfair institution, built on the loyalty of our regulars, the quality of our food, and a genuine warmth of welcome that has remained unchanged since 1994.

Our guests – many of whom have been coming for all three decades – are the reason we exist. Our kitchen makes the tortillas fresh every day. We prepare the paella to order, every time. It is harder work. It is also why the food tastes like it does.

          SPANISH HIDDEN GEM IN LONDON

Being proudly independent means we never cut corners.

Our Iberian ham croquetas are made fresh in our kitchen every day – not bought in. Each portion of our Jamón Ibérico 100% Bellota is hand-carved and brought to the table. Our paella is prepared to order and takes fifteen minutes, because that is how long a real paella takes. This is what traditional Spanish tapas in London looks like, made with proper ingredients by people who care.

Experience the magic of El Pirata of Mayfair today. Book now, or just walk in … we’ll always try and find a space for you, even when we’re busy. We are perfectly located for a quick walk or short ride from Victoria, Piccadilly, Soho, Chelsea, Kensington, and Knightsbridge.
