    SANGRIA TIME AT RESTAURANT MAYFAIR

PARTY FUNCTION ROOMS RESTAURANT MAYFAIR

line-red
If ever there was a party drink, it’s Sangria, a sort of punch.

Spanish Sangria is a sort of punch made with red wine, fruit, brandy or other spirits, sweeteners and mixers like soda water or other fizzy drinks to give it a sparkling finish.

Freshly Prepared Spanish Sangria

The name comes from the Spanish word sangre meaning blood (because of its colour), but it can be made with white wine when, illogically, it is known as sangria blanca. The ingredients are mixed and left to chill for several hours or even overnight to allow the fruits – oranges, lemons, apples, peaches and berries, for instance – to infuse the wine with their juices. It’s usually served very cold, often with ice, in a large glass or pitcher.

A Staple of Many Tapas Bars and Restaurants

Typically, the Spanish enjoy sangria at social gatherings and festive occasions (it’s not a tipple for the solitary drinker). And it is really popular during the hot summer months, often served at festivals and parties, barbecues and picnics. It’s a staple of many tapas bars and restaurants and a popular choice to accompany tapas.

    Enjoy Sangria at Social Gatherings

Originating from the Iberian peninsula, sangria is popular worldwide – especially in warm climates. One of the most well known party drinks.

SERVING MAYFAIR CUSTOMERS FOR 30 YEARS

Our ‘Bottomless Sangria’ can be savoured at El Pirata with the Excellent value Saturday Brunch Menu.

Two things to watch out for though: alcohol content can vary considerably, and calories can be through the roof because of the sweeteners and mixers. On the upside, there are vital vitamins in the fruit.

Sangria Served on El Pirata’s Terrace

El Pirata on Down Street has been serving Mayfair customers for 30 years and in that time has built up a reputation for its sangria. There are few better ways to transport yourself to Spain than sitting on El Pirata’s terrace and sipping on its sangria over a few classic tapas dishes.

And since you’re here, it’s worth pointing out that ‘bottomless sangria’ can be savoured at El Pirata with the excellent value Saturday brunch menu.
