We were delighted to open our inbox several weeks ago to find out that we had been nominated for an SME News award, and even happier when we found out last week that we had won ‘Best Spanish Tapas- London‘ and it seems as if you, our wonderful customers, are just as happy as we are!

Having been around in Mayfair for over 25 years, it’s fair to say that the chefs here at El Pirata have a lot of experience with authentic, Spanish food. Our ethos here is all about celebrating ‘la rustica’ – the rustic way of cooking. Using fresh ingredients and traditional recipes, we create tapas plates which conjure up our roots in the Spanish countryside, mountains and coast – it’s an authentic taste of the beautiful country we call home.
We are very lucky to recently have had Zac Whittle, our good friend and former Executive Chef of Michelin-starred Galvin Restaurants, review our menu. Zac has helped us enhance our beautiful flavours and modernise a few of our dishes strengthening our offer to our customers. Some of the new and improved dishes we’re most proud of have to be our Arroz Negro con Calamares – grilled baby squid on a bed of richly flavoured black squid ink rice – and our Secretos de Cerdo Iberico; the prized cuts of world renowned Iberican pork sitting on crushed potatoes, with a dash of sea salt and rosemary. These dishes showcase our wonderful kitchen’s talents and bring these ‘rustica’ flavours of Spain into the centre of London – perfect for anyone missing their 2020 Spanish getaway.
The SME awards are British business awards which showcase the very best small and medium sized businesses the UK has to offer, proudly encompassing a multitude of exciting and vibrant businesses & industries from all over the nation.
