Spanish Wines at El Pirata
Despite the unprecedented circumstances and the postponement of the spectacular Caballeros annual dinner every March, the decision has been taken to announce the investiture of three well-known members of the Spanish and British wines trade in to the Gran Orden. One of the celebrated wine-makers is Manuel Mugas, third generation Mugas family, who supply El Pirata with our Muga Rosado, Muga Blanco and Muga Rioja wines.
After completing his academic training, Manuel moved to France where he worked in La Mondiale, a major international insurance company and, after returning to Spain, he continued his professional career in the financial sector, working in MAPFRE another prestigious company of Spanish origin. Diageo, one of the world’s largest producers of spirits and beers was the last company he worked for until in 1994, as a member of the family’s third generation, he joined Bodegas Muga.
Manuel Muga, Executive Vice-president of Bodegas Muga, commented that it is “a great honour for me, as a representative of the Muga family, to receive this recognition. It’s really a pity that the present situation with Covid has, for the moment, prevented us from celebrating an event which gives so much recognition and prestige to Spanish wines’
We’ll be raising a glass to you, Manuel, and the Muga family: gracias for all of your hard work producing the incredible wines we enjoy!
