First dates? They’re pretty nerve-wracking, aren’t they? You’re keen to make a good impression, but you don’t want to come across as overly keen in case you look, well, a little desperate.
And the location is crucial, isn’t it? Imagine booking dinner at an upmarket Mayfair restaurant, only to find that you don’t quite hit it off and you’re facing a couple of hours of awkward silence, avoiding eye contact across a sea of white linen.

Well, at El Pirata, we’ve got a few suggestions to help out. First, why don’t you arrange to meet at our cocktail bar for a quick drink? If you don’t click, then you can simply sup up and move on. But if you think there is a spark there, have a word with the barman and he’ll arrange a table for you.
Even then, you’re not making a huge commitment: it’s a tapas restaurant, so you can take it slowly – dish by dish – while you get to know each other. Or you can polish off a couple of small plates and call it a day. It’s important to have choices.
The other thing is that at El Pirata, there’ll be nobody eavesdropping on your conversation. It’s always buzzy, and the noise of people having fun and enjoying their food will leave you in your own private little bubble. Sharing plates is an excellent way to start a relationship too.
