Places to Eat Hyde Park Corner

Here’s a startling fact: in its first ten years Hyde Park Winter Wonderland – to give it its full title – attracted 14 million visitors. That’s more than the population of Paris.

It began way back in 2005 as a small funfair, but it wasn’t very successful. And then in 2007, The Royal Parks authority invited AEG Live and PWR Events to cooperate on a new concept – Winter Wonderland.

An oasis in winter

These days it is a simply huge draw, featuring festive markets, a gigantic wheel (the largest transportable wheel in Europe), a circus and ice show, live music, bars and restaurants. In the Bavarian Village, you can feast on beer and bratwurst or if Italian is more to your taste, dine at Voodoo Ray’s Bottomless Pizza Party.

The 2024 Winter Wonderland, which begins on November 21, features rides with names like Munich Looping, The Hangover, Aeronaut Starflyer and Blizzard as well as Cirque Berserk: Tornado a 45-minute show full of adrenaline-fuelled stunts and breathtaking circus acts.

And when the crowds get too much for you, you can always slip away to nearby Down Street for a friendly meal in Mayfair’s oldest tapas bar, El Pirata. It’s a famously buzzy restaurant – but it’s probably still a sanctuary after Winter Wonderland.
