Mayfair’s worst kept secret…?

To those who know us at El Pirata, it’s no surprise that we’ve been one of London’s most renowned Tapas bars for over 26 years; with a menu full of flavour, an enviable wine list and attentive staff, we’ve served some of the greatest and good in the city’s social scene. From fashionistas to famous actors, El Pirata has seen many a recognisable face come through the door- and in turn has become somewhat of a ‘Grande Dame’ of the restaurant world.

Lawrence Head of Arcadia Magazine heralds us as a “buzzing little joint,” and describes our clientele as “ gastronomic Illuminati who simply recognise that this is the best and most genuine tapas in London town.” Fine praise indeed, not only for us but our discerning customers, too- El Pirata really is a haven for all London foodies and wine buffs alike. In fact, our friends at Experience Luxury whole heartedly agree, calling us “a little slice of Spain….you’re spoilt for choice when choosing what to eat at El Pirata.” Well, we are Spanish- spoiling our clientele is what we do best!

Our Spanish roots influence everything we do here at El Pirata, from our extensive tapas list to our carefully curated selection of wines; our team love to recommend the wine they feel is best suited to you, as A Lady of Leisure can testify: “As for wine, the Spanish pinot noir recommended by Paolo was delicious.” Pairing the right wine with the right dish is almost an art form and we love our art like we love our food: bold, big and full of character! We enjoy advising our guests on the best wine pairings and it seems that we’re doing a good job; London unattached writes, “ I…really do enjoy being guided through the best wines to pair with food…Happy to have been reunited with an old friend and resolved to not wait so long until we meet again.”

Speaking of friends, (or amigos, as we would say), nothing has been more important to us over the difficult past year than our friends and family- you, our clientele. We believe that a smile goes a long way in making you feel at home; “refreshingly unpretentious” is how Luxury Lifestyle Mag described us and we couldn’t agree more. We’re delighted to be back in full swing for 2021- as Mayfair times says, “with a few different flavours, the same friendly service and slightly more than just a lick of paint.”
