World Albariño Day
Hola amigos! If you’ve ever spent time on Spain’s north-western Galician coast, just north of Portugal, you’ll know the Rías Baixas region isn’t like the rest of Spain. It’s greener, cooler, and fringed with steep cliffs and misty estuaries. It’s also home to what many consider Spain’s finest white wine grape variety: Albariño.
A grape so fine it has its own day dedicated to it. In case you didn’t know, this Friday 1st August is World Albariño Day.
And with the help of our wonderful wine suppliers we’re here celebrating at El Pirata by offering 3 Albariño wines at a special price.
Three wines. One grape. All from the Atlantic coast.

Galician Restaurant Tapas Bar Mayfair London
We’re pouring three excellent Albariños by the glass… or all three for just £12.50
Reveleste (£4.50) – crafted by Adegas Laureatus in the Salnés Valley of Rías Baixas
Nora (£5.00) – from the producer Bodega Viña Nora
Laureatus (£6.00) – the most intense wine from the winemaker Bodegas Laureatus.
Each one is fresh with that minerality from the region that Albariño lovers seek out, with fruity distinctive flavours. It’s no wonder Albariño is a perfect match for seafood, especially our Paella Marinera (Seafood paella) and Arroz Negro Con Calamares (Black rice and squid).
And if you’re really looking to while away a Friday afternoon Spanish-style, in celebration of World Albariño Day you can try all three of the wines for £12.50.
So if you’re looking for a quiet place to duck out of the Mayfair crowds and sip something distinctly Spanish, we’ll be here – on Down Street, with cool glasses and crisp pours.
